Panel 1: Wide panel, close up on Basho and Norsa, both topless and out of breath. Also both are red in the face and smiling. Basho says, "I missed you, Ma'oor."

Norsa says, "And I, you. Ha, my stars..."

Panel 2: Medium close-up on Norsa as she says, "Enjoy this moment while we can, before - "

Panel 3: Medium close-up, Basho and Norsa are both alarmed to hear a loud CRASH.

Panel 4: Same shot as Panel 3, though they are both looking off panel. Basho says, "...It's not like Nohnny to be so noisy..."

Norsa says, "Not unless something is REALLY wrong."

Panel 5: The two hurry off the bed, Norsa pulling up her pants.

Panel 6: Basho and Norsa leave their bedroom, tugging their garments back on.

  • PAGE 314 Panel 1: Medium shot of Ranki glaring down. He says, "What's this? My conflict is not with you." Panel 2: We see the nohni hiss at Ranki's black hand as it clenches his sword. Panel 3: Wide panel. Ranki raises his sword, grits his teeth, and says, "But if you will not move...then I must put you in your place..." Panel 4: STAB. The sound effect takes up the whole, wide panel. Panel 5: Large panel. As Daniel, Thomas, and Jamie run to the right of the page, Thomas says, "Something was wrong when I stabbed him!" Jamie looks back over zer shoulder and asks, "What?"

  • PAGE 313 Panel 1: Wide panel. Jamie (in the lead), Thomas, and Daniel are running at full speed up the steps and past the trees. Panel 2: Wide panel, we see Thomas and Daniel running into the mouth of the tunnel that leads to Dogona. Panel 3: Wide panel. At the base of the stairs Jamie and friends just ascended, Ranki approaches. Something shuffles in the bushes nearby. The trees around him are gnarled and drawn in faded lines, as if touched by otherworldly magic. Panel 4: Ranki glances down at a Nohni, a small critter that leaps out of the bushes. It has a purple racoon-like body and a white mask like a wide-eyed bird, with a large black mouth. Its blue ears are lowered, and its fur bristles as it hisses at Ranki.

Panel 3: wide panel. Ranki bends down and grabs the handle of his sword. Panel 4: In this panel that takes up the bottom half of the page, Ranki turns his back to the viewer and moves towards the bushes and trees. He's going after the pirates.

  • PAGE 311 Panel 1: wide panel. The trees and bushes frame the shot of Ranki, standing alone by the stump, his sword at his feet. Daniel flees further into the brush. Panel 2: Ranki snaps the arrow off, but the head of the arrow is still in his chest. He grunts in pain. Panel 3: Ranki grabs the arrow jutting out of his dark arm. Panel 4: SNAP. The arrow breaks in half but the arrow head is still in his arm. Panel 5: He glances down at his arm, gritting his teeth. Panel 6: Panels 4, 5, and 7 frame this shot. We see Ranki's arm, black like a Mocktaw, and the darkness creeps higher up, touching his elbow. Panel 7: Close up on Ranki's face as he grimaces at the sight.

  • PAGE 310 Panel 1: Wide panel. Thomas pulls the knife out from Ranki's shoulder. As Ranki winces, a trail of black blood follows the arc of where Thomas moves. In the background, Jamie watches, alarmed at what they see. Panel 2: Wide panel. Closer in on Thomas and Jamie. Thomas yells, "MOSEY!" Jamie yells, "Right!" Panel 3: Jamie and Thomas both RUN AWAY into the bushes. Ranki, his back to the viewer, watches them flee. Panel 4: Medium close-up on Ranki, looking confused as he talks to himself. "'Mosey'? Is that a name or a code - ?" Panel 5: An arrow goes THOT into his pectoral and Ranki screams. Panel 6: Cut to the shadows of the surrounding trees and bushes. Daniel runs to the right of the page, panicked. In the background we see Ranki clutching the arrow in his chest.

Thomas kicks Jamie in the side, shouting "Sorry!" Panel 4: Thomas steps back and Jamie regains their footing just as Ranki's sword swing strikes down between the two of them.
